Lots of Love in Long Term Care

For many, Valentine’s Day is a celebration of love to be shared with our families, partners, and other relationships we treasure dearly. The holiday is filled with candy, flowers, gifts, and treats to express adoration for loved ones – including beloved seniors in long term care. 

This year, many facilities and communities across the country commemorated the holiday and spread the love to residents, some of whom celebrated milestone anniversaries with their loved ones.

State Senators Deliver Valentines to Local Seniors 

Illinois State Senators Craig Wilcox and Don DeWitte delivered more than 9,000 homemade valentines to seniors as part of the Senate Republicans’ annual Valentines for Seniors program. Read the full story → 

Long-Time Love in Long Term Care

Residents at Twin Pines Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Victoria, Texas celebrated their love for each other on the holiday. Several couples at the long term care facility celebrated more than 50 years of marriage. Read the full story → 

Spreading the Love 

Grace Hobbs, an eighth-grade student in Shawnee, Oklahoma, spent months preparing for Valentine’s Day by making homemade cards through a program she started within her 4-H club. With fundraisers, donations, and volunteers, Grace was able to send thousands of Valentines across the state of Oklahoma to seniors in nursing homes and assisted living communities. A Valentines Surprise 

Kids at the School of Early Childhood Education in Sioux Falls, South Dakota spent weeks working on their Valentines and were able to surprise the residents at Hearthstone Assisted Living Center by sharing their gifts and treats.
